The ‘jewels’ of the Minoan land in contemporary gastronomy

Inspired from and respectful of her Minoan inheritance, Maria Adamaki created the brand Minoan Spora, a series of products from the most authentic nutritional treasures of Crete: Olive oil, olives, honey, herbs and spices which are all fundamental ingredients of the Cretan nutrition, whose principles are considered throughout history as the basis of health and well being. The products are ready to be included at fine dining spots across the planet, inside impressive packaging with designs inspired by wall paintings such as the dolphins from the palace of Knossos, as well as from Minoan jewelry such as the famous earrings with the double bee, an archaeological finding from Malia, one of the precious findings that are exhibited at the Heraklion Archaeological Museum.

The Minoan Spora products are collected using traditional methods in their primary authentic state. The founder, Maria Adamaki, who was born and bred in the region of Heraklion, created this delicious Cretan brand with the elegant design, like a modern Minoan lady, with knowledge and devotion to her land. When she returned to Crete after having spent fifteen years in Italy, she set the following aim: to promote and showcase the precious heritage and the wealth of the Cretan land at the international gastronomic scene.

“The time I spent abroad made me seek my identity and my roots, at the landscapes and the smells of Crete. Realizing how relevant the people-centred Minoan civilization still remains, I decided to find ways to promote this heritage, in a contemporary way. I began with a journey through tastes, bringing these nutritional treasures at the table, just like nature offers them to us.”

«Branding Heritage is an important and promising initiative. It is the first platform which gives space to contemporary interpretations of our cultural inheritance. It’s a meeting point for all of us who create and are inspired starting from our roots».
